My name is Clara Joy, and I’m the founder and chief happiness officer of this website. After struggling with depression and anxiety for many years, I turned my life around by focusing on small daily practices that brought me more joy, peace, and purpose. Now I want to share what I’ve learned to help others live their best lives too.

My Story

Looking back, I’ve always been a melancholy person prone to worry. As a child I was very sensitive, and often felt lonely and sad without fully understanding why. This continued into my teen and early adult years.

I struggled through college while battling low self-esteem and social anxiety. My first job out of school was extremely stressful, which took a toll on my mental health. Within a few years, I sunk into a dark depression and could barely get out of bed in the morning. I knew I needed help, so I started seeing a therapist and taking medication. This improved my depression, but only temporarily.

After a particularly bad period, I realized I needed to make major changes if I wanted to truly get better. I started researching and experimenting with lifestyle habits and mindset shifts that could improve my mental health in a sustainable way.

Here are some of the top strategies I employed:

  • Exercise. I started running regularly, which boosted my mood through endorphins while also reducing anxiety and stress.
  • Meditation. I meditated for just 10-15 minutes daily using mindfulness techniques. This helped me get control over my worried mind.
  • Gratitude journaling. I made a habit of writing down 3 things I was grateful for every night before bed. This shifted my focus toward the positive.
  • Self-care. I prioritized sleep, healthy food, and activities like yoga that made me feel good. This improved my energy and resilience.
  • Cognitive reframing. With my therapist’s help, I learned techniques to reframe negative thought patterns in a more positive light.

As I made these changes consistently over time, I began to feel like my old self again – happy, peaceful, and excited about life! The cloud of depression lifted, and I had more good days than bad. I began to set goals for my life and pursue them with passion.

After seeing how much transforming small daily habits improved my mental health, I felt called to help others do the same. I started this website to share all the tips, tools, and strategies I’ve learned on my journey to get happy.
